| Franz Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 |
|

|
Liszt composed 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies and the No.2was written in 1847, initially for the piano. Liszt used a lot of Gypsy melodies and rhythms in his Hungarian Rhapsodies. He later arranged it for the orchestra. This rhapsody was perhaps best known for being used extensively in animated cartoons. Among the so many, The Cat Concerto from Tom & Jerry is one of the most well known one which won the Academy Award for Short Subjects, Cartoon in 1946. For the audience from Hong Kong, the melody from the slow section of the beginning may remind them about the background music used for some of the Black & White oldies movies of Hong Kong.
