Roy ChengOCMS Choir Conductor Mr. Roy Cheng; Famous Bass Baritone Soloist. Was formerly a programme producer and director on Mandarin channel of Radio Singapore and Rediffusion Commercial Radio. He held a Master degree from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and at various stages of his career, Mr. Cheng served as soloist and vocal music instructor with Shanghai Orchestra. Cheng has trained numerous singers since 1974 through his teaching position at Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Music Institute, The ATV Artist Training Iinstitute, and Hong Kong Youth Choir of Hong Kong Government Music Office. Professional vocal artists trained by Mr. Cheng can be found in many countries. Mr. Cheng also represented Hong Kong as Chief Adjudicator at Southeast Asia Youth Singer
Competition for many sessions.
Mr. Cheng has given many recitals in China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and North America.
As a soloist he has worked with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese
Orchestra, Hong Kong Oratorio Society,etc.
Rachel ChongOCMS Choir Conductor Rachel Chong was Born in Hong Kong. She studied piano and voice in England and Austria and during the same time, she also completed an “Ensemble Leitung” (conducting) course in Musik Konzervatorium der Stadt Wien (Music Conservatory of City Vienna). As a performer, Ms.Chong’s recent work includes here in Toronto her soprano solo role in 2007 in German Requiem with the Canadian award winning choral group the “Voices” and also in 2008 the two soprano roles, Angel Gabriel and Eve in Haydn’s Creation presented by the Association of Toronto Chinese Evangelical Church Musicians. In the same year in Hong Kong, Ms. Chong performed at a concert presented by the Kwan Sing Choir and sang the famous aria and duet “Your Little Cold Hands” from Puccini’s Ms. Chong’s choral involvement includes conducting the Chorale Victoria in Hong Kong in the 1980s during which she also led the choir to perform at various concerts at the Hong Kong City Hall and Tsuen Wan Town Hall. And for many years Ms. Chong was also a first soprano of the London Symphony Chorus (England) and The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. Ms.Chong has been actively involved in the work of the Chinese media in Toronto over the years. Recently, she shared her own experience and insight with the audience on two separate programs offered by Fairchild Television, including an interview on music education at the “Leisure Talk” show and sitting on the judge panel of the New Talent Singing Awards. |
